What is Intergroup?
The Greater New York Al-Anon Family Intergroup, Inc., (“Intergroup”) is New York City’s Al-Anon information center.
What does Intergroup do?
Intergroup provides vital services to New Yorkers in the five boroughs of New York who are affected by the family disease of alcoholism.
Intergroup
- Is often the first contact for first-timers.
- Maintains an up-to-date listing of all Al-Anon meetings in New York City.
- Provides info about Al-Anon on line and by phone.
- Coordinates Alateen, public outreach and speaker referrals to prisons, hospitals, schools, and treatment centers.
- Sells Conference-approved literature.
- Coordinates communication between all of the different meetings in NYC through its system of Intergroup Representatives (“IRs”).
- Brings together members through Share-A-Days, dances and other activities.
How can get involved?
- Do service—volunteer at the Intergroup Office to answer the phones or to be a speaker or Alateen Group Sponsor, become an IR or join the Intergroup Board of Directors.
- Support Intergroup with a contribution.
- Ask your meeting to make a regular contribution to Intergroup
- Purchase literature from us.
- Make a donation. (Since Intergroup is a nonprofit organization, donations are tax deductible.) You can send us a donation by mail or make one on line. Consider a monthly donation.
